It is often said that a life well lived is one spent uplifting others. This is demonstrated in the joyous attitudes of the staff at the Wings of Inspiration Dorah’s Ark Orphanage. Situated in Roodepoort, the orphanage is home to over forty orphaned and abandoned children of all ages and is greatly concerned with the children’s development and well-being through play and education, as well as making a lasting, positive change in each of the children’s lives.
The orphanage is currently at full capacity, and due to a lack of funds, it is a daily challenge to afford the many necessities of children of school going age. This prompted the decision to erect Wendy houses on the premises, that will act as classrooms for the younger children to learn and play. Upon hearing their story and meeting Anthea, Kirsten and Hein, who run the Wings of Inspiration organization, it was without question that they were a perfect candidate for our charity drive.
We donated the labour and materials to help paint their classroom, and build a small playground for the children. We are honoured to have been a part of a project of this magnitude and impact, as the Doober team has also been greatly inspired by the selflessness and determination of the Wings of Inspiration Dorah’s Ark family. They have expressed urgent need for assistance in various areas, so we encourage all those who are able to help, to visit the Wings of Inspiration website.
